In the spring of 2005, The Catnip Cottage began growing and marketing our own special blends of catnip.
We are in the process of researching varieties of catnip (nepeta cataria) and catmint (nepeta mussilini) which are both
members of the mint family. Not all cats respond to these herbs, but for some felines, they are a real trip! The active ingredient is nepetalactone and provides a harmless high.
We wish to offer our guests a premium blend of blossoms and leaves (no stems or stalks). As we research further, we plan to develop different blends for our guest's pleasure. Of course, after rigorous testing of each product, the final judgment of quality will be left to our resident connoisseur, Gypsy Rose. Each new gourmet blend will have her pawprint of approval.
Our catnip blends will be provided to our cottage guests during their stay. In addition, the catnip will also be available in our gift shop to take home and enjoy all of the time.
